  I ordered an Ajax security system online from Amatron - Their prices were the best I could find and the service was great.  I had to return a few items I did not require and Amatron arranged for their courier company to collect and return at no cost and refunded me within 24 hours after having received the items.   Ajax is a wonderful alarm system. It’s easy to install (DIY, really) as there are no wires. It survives load shedding and has no false alarms. Then, Chris gives technically sound AND honest advice. He won’t sell you stuff you might not need.

HOW IT WORKS

You can create custom scenarios on the app to activate specific cameras and start video recording when your Ajax alarm sensor is triggered. If you wish, a second scenario can turn a light on at the same time using an Ajax WallSwitch.

To filter out unnecessary video recordings of trees blowing in the wind, you can select specific zones in a cameras field of view, by setting up the pixel movement detection feature on the app.

Ajax prioritizes your privacy and gives you full control of your system. All video recordings are stored locally on SD memory cards or NVR hard drives, ensuring that your data remains secure. Ajax NVR is NDAA-compliant, meeting the highest standards of privacy protection. Once the system is installed, only the end user has control over it. This ensures there are no hidden ways for unwanted access.

Ajax cameras are powered by POE cables. This is to avoid buffering issues common with WiFi cameras. WiFi or “wireless” cameras are prone to transmitting images too slowly. This results in a delay in viewing images while the system buffers. This may be acceptable for checking in on pets or the courier, but not for security cameras.

This is why Ajax cameras are not wireless. Power Over Ethernet (PoE) cables are required for a fast, reliable experience. The Ajax JetSparrow software ensures ultra-fast video management, making navigation through archives as smooth as the live view.

An Ajax Hub is not required to use the Ajax cameras.

CHOOSE THE SETUP THAT FITS YOUR NEEDS

Ajax Cameras Only: Ideal for those needing one or two cameras. By inserting a SD memory card in each camera, the AI produced video clips can be stored and reviewed. The benefit is no monthly cloud storage fees. Without an SD card, the cameras only offer a live view.

To install, simply connect a PoE network cable from the camera to a PoE injector and the PoE injector to your Wi-Fi router. Then scan the QR code on the device with the Ajax App.

Ajax Cameras and NVR: Perfect for monitoring multiple cameras. The NVR comes in two versions, one with 8 channels which can take up to 8 cameras and a 16 channel NVR which can manage up to 16 cameras. Add multiple NVR’s to a system to extend the number of cameras. Store footage with ample capacity on a hard drive.

NVR AND 3rd PARTY CAMERAS

It’s possible to connect existing IP or analogue cameras to the Ajax NVR. Benefit from motion recordings and live view, even though AI software is not available. Senarios on the app can be set up so that a triggered Ajax alarm sensor can initiate a 3rd party camera to take a short video clip.

The Ajax NVR scans the Wi-Fi network for the 3rd party cameras (already connected to your existing 3rd party DVR/NVR) and allows you to add them to the videowall on the Ajax app. One cannot plug the 3rd party cameras directly into the Ajax NVR or a POE switch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an internet connection to set up my device?

Yes, the system can only work if there is an internet router present.

Do the Ajax camera use batteries?

No, the Ajax cameras do not use batteries and are not wireless. The cameras need power and network cables (or a PoE cable) run to them.

Will I be able to view the cameras on my phone if the internet goes down?

No, internet is required to view the cameras remotely. It is recommended that your internet router, NVr and cameras be included on a UPS backup battery to avoid this issue during power outages.

Can family members also view the cameras on their phones?

Yes, Ajax prioritizes your privacy and gives you full control of your system. Once the system is installed, only the Admin user has control over it and can grant access to certain users. This ensures there are no hidden ways for unwanted access.
