ABOUT IMILAB EC2

The IMILAB EC2 is a completely wireless outdoor security camera. It is perfect for customers who want 1 to 4 cameras around their house, which they can view from their phone. This gives you the ability to check the front or back garden after your security alarm is triggered when you are not home. If you are home, it allows you the opportunity to evaluate the nature of the intrusion without having to leave the house. The EC2 is powered by built-in 5100 mAh lithium rechargeable batteries that only need to be recharged every few months, so there are absolutely no wires, making it extremely easy to install. Please see this video on how to install the IMILAB EC2 camera.

Over the years we have had many customers contacting us and asking for wireless CCTV cameras. Unfortunately, up until now, there has been no such thing as a TRULY wireless cameras. All the “wireless CCTV” products that you find on Google, transmit images wirelessly from the camera to the internet router, BUT the cameras must still be wired for power. This typically defeats the purpose of a hassle free, aesthetically pleasing wireless CCTV system.

HOW IT WORKS

The EC2 cameras are managed by the “Gateway”, a neat little white box the size of a wallet. The Gateway connects to your internet router wirelessly and receives images from the camera which you can view from the App. Therefore, the cameras need to be located within your WIFI range. The IMILAB EC2 camera gives 1080P HD picture quality and has infrared for night-time viewing. During times of low light, the camera switches from full colour in the day to black and white at night.

The EC2 does not record 24/7, but monitors the surroundings in real-time. It only records video clips (10 – 30 seconds) when it senses movement or detects the presence of humans, using its AI. These video clips can then be viewed on your App. The history of these recordings can be extended by inserting a SD card into the Gateway. The EC2 camera even has a basic microphone and speaker. To recharge the camera, simply remove it from its mount and plug it into a standard USB phone charger.

Amatron is the proud sole distributor of the IMILAB security camera range in South Africa.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a WIFI connection to set up my device?

Yes, the system can only work if there is a WIFI internet router present.  Remember, the cameras can only transmit the images to the Gateway if they are within your WIFI signal range.

Does the IMILAB EC2 camera use batteries? If so, how long does it take to recharge?

Yes, the camera needs to be removed from its mount and charged for 6-8 hours with a normal USB phone charger. The camera needs to be charged every two to four months, depending on usage.  Please note, the Gateway does not run on batteries and needs to be plugged into a power supply. The Gateway set does come with a two prong USB adapter, but it is not usable in South Africa.

Will I be able to view the cameras on my phone if the WIFI goes down?

No, WIFI is required to view the cameras remotely. It is recommended that your WIFI router and Gateway be included on a UPS backup battery to avoid this issue during power outages.

Can family members also view the cameras on their phones?

Yes, you can share the camera’s views with others by inviting them via your App.
