  I ordered an Ajax security system online from Amatron - Their prices were the best I could find and the service was great.  I had to return a few items I did not require and Amatron arranged for their courier company to collect and return at no cost and refunded me within 24 hours after having received the items.   Ajax is a wonderful alarm system. It’s easy to install (DIY, really) as there are no wires. It survives load shedding and has no false alarms. Then, Chris gives technically sound AND honest advice. He won’t sell you stuff you might not need.

ABOUT BYRNA

Pronounced bur-nah, the Byrna HD (home defence) is a powerful non-lethal CO 2 hand-held self defense weapon that fires .68 caliber round projectiles. Inside each of the projectiles is a highly potent mixture of chemical irritants that include pepper spray, tear gas and PAVA (synthetic pepper spray). Byrna also offers .68 caliber solid hard plastic projectiles.

Firing these projectiles at an attacker from a distance of up to 18 metres, will deter and disorientate him, allowing you time to get away. This gives you the freedom to fire a Byrna without the consequences of a fatal outcome. Within 5min to an hour the attacker will be fully recovered.

HOW IT WORKS

Once the chemical irritant projectile (Byrna Black) hits its target, a cloud of pepper and tear gas explodes around the assailant. Symptoms from exposure to this gas range from intense tearing, involuntary closing of the eyes, burning and redness of the eyes and exposed skin; to coughing, gagging, and shortness of breath; to loss of motor skills or muscle coordination.

This can reduce the attacker’s aggressive actions for 5 to 60 minutes, allowing plenty of time for you to remove your family from harm’s way. The patented design of the self defense device ensures that the CO 2 cartridge is only pierced when the trigger is pulled, therefore leaving the Byrna in a permanent state of readiness to be fired.

The Byrna HD has an ambidextrous SAFE mode and FIRE mode, allowing you to fire the launcher with either hand. The compact, easy to use nature of the device and its ability to be carried or concealed has made it very popular with hikers, mountain bikers and campers all over South Africa.

Can any .68 caliber round be shot with a Bryna HD?

No. Non-Byrna rounds may break or get stuck in the barrel or magazine and void your warranty. The Byrna projectiles have been specifically manufactured in accordance with the Byrna parts specifications. Please see this video demonstrating how third-party projectiles may cause damage to your Byrna or be less effective.

Can I use the Byrna HD for paintball?

No. The Byrna HD is more powerful than a paintball gun and will cause the paintball to rupture when firing the projectile. This will cause permanent damage to your Byrna HD and will void your warranty. Do not use third-party projectiles or CO2 canisters with your Byrna HD.

How many projectiles can a Byrna CO2 cartridge fire?

One Byrna CO2 cartridge should reliably fire ten .68 caliber Byrna projectiles, giving you the opportunity to fire two magazines (5 rounds per magazine) one after the other.

What size is the Byrna HD?

The Byrna HD is approximately the size of a compact 9mm handgun and will therefore fit comfortably in most 9mm holsters. Please see our list of holster products that suit you.
